There are multiple ways to buy second hand, new, used or recycled car parts from Japan.
Yahoo Auctions has many shops/sellers who are selling new, used/recycled but also junk parts which clearly states on the item description so be careful what and when you are buying.
There’s heaps of “proxies” that allow you to buy almost anything not just parts, but let’s drill down how most of them work.
Sellers (shops, wreckers, scammers) list their items online and they pay a fee (less money for them or they calculate it in the profit they’d like to make)
You can buy the item via a proxy and pay the proxy a fee.
Seller ships it to the proxy (this costs money) and then the proxy sends it to you.
Pretty simple right. Now let’s see how you can buy and save money and time using Japanz.
How does Japanz work?
For new car parts and accessories:
Japanz is partnering with shops/vendors/sellers that you may find their items on some of the Japanese online sites and inviting them to list their products directly onto our platform for free. This saves some money in the long run to customers or sellers.
You can buy the items directly from Japanz where we tend all products to have English description or information as much as possible. Our friendly staff can also help where possible with any questions before buying. We may be able to ask the sellers if a given product will fit your vehicle if you are not sure.
Once you purchase an item, sellers send the item directly to you. No proxies involved, no delay.
For used, recycled or reconditioned parts, Japanz has a platform where more than 40 Japanese car wreckers/dismantlers/recyclers are posting their products which indirectly you may find them for purchase on Yahoo Auctions.
Using our platform allows us to source parts quickly but our end goal is to invite most of these car wreckers to be part of Japanz and limit the need and costs of proxies.
What about parts in stock?
As we are located in Australia, we currently have limited amount of parts in stock with the intention to have more as we grow. Some parts (smaller in weight) are most cost effective to order in bulk and stock them and send them from Australia rather than directly from Japan. This allows our customers to save on time and money.
For new car parts, our partners in Japan usually have stock but it case a product you bought is out of stock, it may add few more days to receive the stock from the manufacturer and send it to you directly. You will be notified if such circumstances do occur.
Regarding used car parts, stock is more fluid and it’s best to be quick and always check with us before purchasing.
Are there any limitations?
Yes. Currently we are using Japan post services and they have limitations in terms of weight and package dimensions. For Australia and New Zealand it is up to 20kgs and we can not have dangerous goods (more on that later) shipped from Japan to ANZ.
Sometimes certain parts may already be pre-filled with gas or oil by the wreckers/sellers and this is not acceptable for shipping. Always check with us before you buy as we have other ways of delivering such items (different freight forwarders or providers).
